BREAKING NEWS - NZ High Commisioner to be expelled from Fiji

The NZ Herald is reporting that New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji, Caroline McDonald will be expelled from Fiji, possibily as early as today.

Her expulsion is believed to be in retaliation for NZ's visa ban for members of the Fijian government, military and their family members.

Fiji's interim Prime Minister has lashed out at Australia and New Zealand in a radio interview labelling them as bullies.

We have not had much difficulty in our relationships with many of our partners. It is only the Governments of Australia and New Zealand who have consistently frustrated the efforts of the Interim Government through imposition of arbitrary, inhumane and punitive travel bans. - Interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama

Tensions between Fiji and Australia and New Zealand have been strained since Commodore Bainimarama came to power in a military coup in 2006.

Earlier this year the Australian High Commissioner to Fiji has received a number of death threats.
